About Us
Wave Nest Surfcamp is a sustainable surf tourism provider. Basically, we organise a whole week of activities for you to enjoy surfing, yoga, nature, and social life with people from all over.
Job Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled Surf instructor and enthusiast to join our team. This is one of the most important aspects of our team, as we count on our instructors to follow a very professional program in order to ensure the safety and fun of all students. The beach of Quiaios offers a huge range of waves, from small and weak to very big and powerful. If you are passionate about surfing, possess very strong communication skills and love sharing your knowledge to newcomer surfers, make sure you apply for one of the best summers of your life!
Responsibilities:
- Perform up to three surfing lessons a day for our guests, five days a week, focusing on safety, fun and technique.
- Instruction is in English, with exceptions if the coach and group agree to a different language.
- Stay up to date with weather and surf conditions to guide our guests in a safe environment.
- Collaborate as a strong team player to enhance the overall surf camp experience.
- Join the community of Quiaios Lifeguards and be willing to help out whenever they require.
- Ensure a supportive and motivating learning environment for students.
- Lead a great attitude and work ethic towards a better surfing image.
- Uphold high standards of customer service, ensuring a positive experience for all students.
- Be willing to help other staff members when needed.
Requirements:
- Certified Surf Instructor (ISA or equivalent).
- Be from the Schengen area or possess a working-visa to work in Portugal.
- Strong swimming and ocean knowledge is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English (Knowing how to speak other languages is a plus)
- Ability to work with students of all ages and skill levels.
- Previous experience in teaching or coaching surfing is necessary.
- First Aid and CPR certification is highly preferred.
- Passion for surfing and a genuine desire to share the moment with others.
Daily tasks at Wave Nest
Being an Instructor is being a great example of what a true surfer looks like, as we want to give a perfect idea that a surfer maintains all surf equipment nice and clean, as ready as it gets for when the good waves arrive, as well as maintaining a positive attitude towards every surf condition on the horizon.
Lightning operation:
After checkout on Saturdays, around 12am, the entire Wave Nest crew will unite to deep clean the camp for a few hours. Each department has a role, from stripping old bedding, to sweeping floors, making the beds and ensuring the tent looks inviting and ensuring shared spaces are refreshed.

- Activities: Crew or guests, everyone is more than welcome to join our activities programmed for everyone to enjoy making new friends and having a great time.
- Time Off: Benefit from one day off per week, aligned with the main department’s schedule, to explore the surroundings, spend the whole day in the water or simply relax and recharge.
